NEW 2026 UC DAVIS STUDY FINDINGS
“Made with Avocado Oil.”
But is it really?
You’re paying more because you expect more. New research says most brands aren’t delivering. A new 2026 UC Davis study went beyond the bottle and into the everyday products that advertise avocado oil as a premium ingredient: mayos, salad dressings, and chips.
The findings are hard to ignore. As a consumer you are paying more for 100% avocado oil, salad dressings, U.S. mayos and chips – but are you actually getting what you pay for?
Salad dressings and U.S. mayos labeled “Made with Avocado Oil.”
Chips labeled “Made with Avocado Oil.”
Bottled avocado oils.
Six years of studies, the same result.
The problem isn’t getting better.
UC Davis raised the alarm in 2020, when 82% of bottled avocado oils tested were either rancid or blended with cheaper oils. Some bottles labeled “pure” were almost entirely soybean oil. A 2023 follow-up on private label avocado oil found the same pattern: roughly 7 in 10 samples had purity or freshness problems.
Even brands once considered pure aren’t delivering in the bottle, and now the concern has spread beyond avocado oil for cooking to mayos, dressings, and chips. That changes everything about how you shop.
WHY IT KEEPS HAPPENING
Real avocado oil
costs up to 4x more.
Cheaper oil. Same label.
Higher margin.
Cheaper oil. Same label. Higher margin.
Real avocado oil costs up to four times more to produce than less expensive commodity oils like canola or soybean oil. That price gap creates a temptation for brands to quietly swap in something cheaper, keep the avocado oil label, and pocket the difference.
100% Pure avocado oil shouldn’t be a gamble. You’re paying extra for the taste, the nutrition, the clean ingredient list. You deserve to actually get it.
Purity, Redefined
In the 2026 UC Davis study, Marianne’s was the benchmark. The 100% pure standard every other brand was measured against. That’s not a marketing claim. That’s the proof.
We weren’t just tested. Marianne's
is the benchmark.

A PURE PROCESS
Here’s How We Earn It
We are completely against adulteration. We believe you should get exactly what you pay for, and we believe in showing our work, not just making claims.
We test every load, not just some of them.
We start with real avocados and we test every load. Before any oil moves, it’s verified for purity. Not occasionally. Every time.
We run the full check, not just the easy one.
Most brands test only the fatty acid portion of CODEX standards, a threshold loose enough that oil can be adulterated by up to 40% and still pass. We test all three markers: fatty acid profile, sterol composition, and tocopherol levels. If something doesn’t belong, it shows up.
